The .doct file extension was used by the OnlyOffice online office converter to store converted Word documents internally. The converted file was kept together with the original DOCX file.
Until 27 June 2013, a DOCX file loaded into OnlyOffice Online Office was converted to the DOCT format. The feature was then removed, and the format is no longer used by the OnlyOffice online service.
These files could be worked with in the OnlyOffice online office converter. The format was internal rather than intended for direct document editing.
Historically, loading a .doct file into OnlyOffice Online Office automatically converted it to .docx. That conversion feature has been removed from the service.
