The JCAMP Spectroscopic Data Exchange Format is a text-based format for exchanging spectroscopic data between analytical software applications. A file can contain saved chemical structures, measurement values, descriptive metadata and other information needed to interpret the spectrum.
JCAMP-DX files are used with different types of spectroscopy and are intended to make spectral data portable between compatible programs. The associated MIME type is chemical/x-jcamp-dx.

DEC WPS-PLUS was word-processing software from Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), primarily associated with DEC computer systems and VMS environments. A DX file stores a WPS-PLUS document rather than a document in a modern, widely supported format.
