The eta file extension is associated with Keyhole EarthViewer, earlier version of Google Earth.
The eta file extension is used for two different formats - A placemark file format and an overlay file format.
When Google acquired Keyhole and renamed the product to Google Earth it also changed the default file extensions to KML (placemark) and KMZ.

The ETA file extension identifies audio files associated with eTreppid's eTplayer software and its ETVC media codec. The format was used to store audio for playback in that software.
ETA is an older proprietary format and appears to no longer be supported by current software. Modern general-purpose media players may not recognize it.
Open an ETA file with the eTreppid eTplayer software, if a compatible copy is available. The ETVC media codec may also be required for playback.
Because the format is old and no longer widely supported, current media players may be unable to open ETA files.
There does not appear to be a commonly available converter for the eTreppid ETA format. If eTplayer can open the file, use any export or recording option it provides to save the audio in a current format.
If the file cannot be opened by compatible eTreppid software, conversion may not be possible.
