FlashGet incomplete download
File type: Temporary file
A fb! file is a temporary, incomplete download created by FlashGet, an Internet download manager.
It remains in use while FlashGet downloads the original file.
File type category:
Temporary file
Date updated: October 28, 2026
The fb! file extension is associated with FlashGet, an Internet download manager from Trend Media Corporation Limited.
A fb! file contains the data received so far for a download that is still in progress. It is a temporary part of the download rather than the completed file.
When the download finishes, FlashGet renames the file and restores the original file extension. FlashGet is Microsoft Windows software, and the fb! format is intended for use by that application rather than for general file exchange.
Use FlashGet on Microsoft Windows to resume the download associated with a .fb! file. It is not intended to be opened as a normal document or media file.
Opening it in another program will generally not produce a usable file. If FlashGet cannot resume the download, the download may fail and need to be started again.
A .fb! file cannot normally be converted because it represents an incomplete download, not a finished file in a format intended for conversion.
Resume and finish the download in FlashGet. After completion, FlashGet creates the original file, which can then be opened or converted according to that file's format.
