FaceGen facial model sheet used by FaceGen character-generation software

File type: 3d graphics, CAD-CAM-CAE file

FGSHEET is a proprietary project or data file associated with FaceGen, software for creating and editing 3D human faces and characters. It stores facial-model information used by the application rather than functioning as a general-purpose image or document format.

These files are primarily opened with compatible FaceGen software on Windows. They are not normally intended to be edited directly in a text editor or opened with standard image, modeling, or spreadsheet applications.

What is fgsheet file?

File type category:
3d graphics, CAD-CAM-CAE file

An FGSHEET file belongs to the FaceGen ecosystem and may contain parameters, references, or other data describing a generated facial model. The format is application-specific, so the exact contents depend on the FaceGen product and version that created the file.

FaceGen uses specialized data files to preserve editable facial characteristics and generated-model settings. An FGSHEET file should therefore be kept with any associated FaceGen resources when moving a project between computers.

Compatibility is generally tied to FaceGen applications for Microsoft Windows. There is no widely supported standalone viewer, and common 3D applications such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max usually cannot open an FGSHEET file directly without first exporting the model from FaceGen.

Because this is a proprietary format, files created by newer FaceGen releases may not be fully compatible with older releases. Opening a copy in the current version of the original software is recommended before attempting any conversion or migration.

How to open fgsheet file?

Install the relevant FaceGen application on Windows, then use its Open or Import command and select the FGSHEET file. If the file is associated with FaceGen, double-clicking it may also launch the installed program.

No commonly documented native macOS or Linux application is available for this format. On those platforms, use a supported Windows installation or virtual machine, or ask the sender to export the associated character or face to a standard format such as OBJ or FBX.

How to convert fgsheet file?

Open the file in the compatible FaceGen product and use its export or save-as functions to create a standard 3D format, where supported. Depending on the FaceGen edition and project contents, possible export targets may include OBJ or FBX; export availability should be checked in the installed version.

Generic online converters generally do not support FGSHEET files because the format is proprietary and may contain application-specific project data. Desktop conversion through FaceGen is the safest approach. Convert a copy and retain the original, since exporting may preserve the visible model without preserving all editable FaceGen settings.
