Adobe FreeHand for Mac file
File type: Various data file
An FHA3 file is a document created by Adobe FreeHand for Macintosh computers.
It contains FreeHand artwork and related document data.
File type category:
Various data file
Date updated: September 27, 2026
Adobe FreeHand was a vector graphics and page-layout application later maintained by Adobe. An FHA3 file belongs to the Macintosh version of the application.
The file can contain vector artwork and the document information required to edit that artwork in FreeHand. It is a native FreeHand document rather than a general-purpose image file.
Adobe FreeHand MX for Microsoft Windows may open compatible older FreeHand documents, but FreeHand is discontinued and the FHA3 format is no longer in active use.
Open the file with a compatible version of Adobe FreeHand. The Windows version of Adobe FreeHand MX may open it, although support for this older Macintosh file format is not guaranteed.
Because FreeHand is discontinued, it may be necessary to use an older computer or operating system capable of running the application.
If Adobe FreeHand can open the FHA3 file, use its Save As or Export commands to create a more current document or interchange format, such as PDF or EPS.
If FreeHand cannot open the file, conversion is not generally possible with modern software alone. A compatible FreeHand installation is normally required before the artwork can be exported.
