FullWrite file
File type: Document file
A FWRT file is a document created by FullWrite, a word-processing application for Macintosh computers.
File type category:
Document file
Date updated: September 27, 2026
The FWRT file extension identifies documents used by FullWrite. A file can contain the text and formatting of a word-processing document created in the application.
FullWrite is legacy Macintosh software, and the FWRT format is no longer in common use.
Open an FWRT file with FullWrite on a compatible classic Macintosh system. Because FullWrite is legacy software, the file may require an appropriate older Mac environment if the original application is not available on the current computer.
Open the FWRT file in FullWrite and use any save or export option provided by that version to create a more widely supported document format.
