The GTP file extension is associated with executable files for the Atari ST computer line. The Atari ST was a home and personal computer platform released by Atari Corporation in 1985 and commercially available from 1985 to the early 1990s.
The name "ST" officially referred to "Sixteen/Thirty-two", describing the Motorola 68000 processor's 16-bit external data bus and 32-bit internal architecture. GTP files are legacy binaries for this platform and are no longer in common use.
Run a GTP file on an Atari ST computer or in an Atari ST emulator that supports TOS executable programs. A compatible emulator may require the file to be selected through its program or disk-image interface.
Modern desktop operating systems do not run GTP files natively. Do not open the file as a document in a text editor, because it contains executable binary data.
A GTP file normally cannot be meaningfully converted to a modern executable format. It can be preserved and run in an Atari ST environment, but conversion to a native modern application generally requires the original source code and a port to the target platform.
