The ima file extension is also used for some older floppy disk image format, that was often used to store bootable floppy disks on hard drive.
Such .ima files can be burned on CDs or DVDs by Nero Burning ROM.
Some burning tools or disk image handling utilities should be able to access this type of *.ima files.
Some sort of disk image conversion is probably possible, especially between various floppy disk images.

File extension image was also used for the native file format of the Zenographics Mirage program. The older version of this format was used by Mirage v5.12 and eariler. Mirage 5.20 introduced the newer version of IMA format, but the suffix has been the same.
Note: AOL Instant Messenger also used .ima graphics files, but this was a greyscale format developed by AOL and not related to Zenographics. It is also no longer actively used and rarely supported.
Unfortunately, we do not know about any modern program that could still open old .ima graphics files from Zenographics.
It may be possible that a program that can open/edit .ima files can also resave them to another format.
