Nevo used IRC files to store the infrared signals and related code data needed to control consumer electronics devices. The data allowed a supported Nevo remote-control setup to operate equipment such as televisions and other home-entertainment devices.
The files belong to the Nevo software and its device-code library. Nevo was distributed for supported Windows Mobile and Pocket PC devices, with associated setup and configuration tools used to manage remote-control arrangements.
Nevo is legacy software, so the IRC format is mainly encountered with older Nevo installations and devices. It is not a general-purpose infrared-code exchange format.
IRC files are intended to be used by Nevo on a compatible Windows Mobile or Pocket PC device. They are normally accessed by the software as part of its device-code data rather than opened as a standalone document.
If the file came from an older Nevo installation, place it where that installation expects its code data and let Nevo use it.
There is no established general-purpose converter for the Nevo IRC format. The file contains Nevo-specific remote-control data, so converting it to another file format is not normally meaningful.
To use the same equipment with another remote-control system, configure the device from that system's own code library or learn the infrared signals again where supported.
