Kexi is a database application from KDE for creating database schemas, entering data, running queries, and processing data. The Kexi database connection file belongs to this application.
A .kexis file contains connection information for a database, including the settings needed to connect to a specified .kexi database. It does not serve as the database itself.
The format is specific to Kexi and is used as a settings file rather than as a general-purpose database interchange format. The Kexi edition for Microsoft Windows can use these files.
Open a .kexis file with Kexi on Microsoft Windows. If the file is not associated with Kexi, start Kexi and use its open or database connection workflow to select the file.
Kexi reads the stored connection settings and uses them to connect to the associated database. A text editor may display the file contents, but it will not establish the database connection.
A .kexis file is not normally converted to another format. It stores Kexi connection settings rather than database content.
To use the connection with another setup, recreate or edit the connection settings in Kexi. If the database itself must be moved to another format, use Kexi's database import or export features; this does not convert the .kexis file.
