The kX Project is an alternative Windows hardware driver and software project for Creative Sound Blaster Live! and Audigy sound cards, developed by Creative. The project provides access to the cards' programmable digital signal processors.
A .kxl file contains a compiled kX DSP effects library. It supplies one or more audio-processing components that the kX Project can load into its DSP environment.
This is a legacy format associated with the kX Project and older supported sound cards. It is not a standard audio file containing recorded sound, and it is primarily encountered on Microsoft Windows systems using the kX Project software.
A .kxl file is not normally opened as a standalone document. Install the kX Project on Microsoft Windows and load the file through the project's kX DSP or effects-management tools.
The file may not work without compatible Creative Sound Blaster Live! or Audigy hardware and the corresponding kX Project drivers.
A .kxl file is a compiled DSP effects library, so it cannot be meaningfully converted to a common audio format. Use it with the kX Project, or obtain the original effect or project source if the effect needs to be modified or recreated.
