The Cakewalk MIDI format was developed for Cakewalk's music production software, including Sonar. An MFF file stores MIDI information such as notes, timing, tracks and controller events that software uses to play or edit a musical arrangement.
An MFF file is a project-related MIDI format, not a conventional audio file. It is similar in purpose to a Standard MIDI File, but uses Cakewalk's own file format.
The format is associated with the Windows versions of Sonar.
Open the file in Sonar on Microsoft Windows. Use the program's Open command and select the MFF file. Other Cakewalk software that supports the Cakewalk MIDI format may also be able to open it.
To convert an MFF file, open it in Sonar and save or export it as a Standard MIDI File, usually with the .mid extension. This converts the MIDI performance data, not an audio recording.
