The MVD file extension is used primarily for projects created in MAGIX Movie Edit Pro, a video editing program for Microsoft Windows. The file saves work in progress rather than representing a finished video.
An MVD project can contain the editing timeline, project settings, and references to the video, audio, and other media used in the project. The referenced source files may therefore be needed when the project is reopened.
MVD files are intended to be used with Movie Edit Pro. They are project files, not general-purpose video files, and compatibility can depend on the version of the software that created them.
Note: The MVD suffix was also used by MicroDVD player for its movie files. This is an unrelated format that only shares the same extension.
Open the .mvd file in MAGIX Movie Edit Pro on Microsoft Windows. You can usually open it from the program's file menu or by opening the file directly.
Make sure that the source media referenced by the project is still available, because an MVD file may not contain the media itself.
An MVD file cannot usually be converted directly with a general-purpose file converter because it is a Movie Edit Pro project. Open it in Movie Edit Pro instead.
To create a standard video file, use Movie Edit Pro's export or render function and select the required output format.
