MacWrite Pro was a word-processing application from Claris, an Apple-related software company. A MacWrite Pro file could contain formatted text and other document content created in the application.
The MWPR format belongs to the legacy Macintosh software ecosystem and is no longer widely used. Although MacWrite is associated with Apple macOS and Mac OS X, current macOS versions generally cannot open MacWrite Pro files directly.
Open an MWPR file with MacWrite Pro in a compatible classic Macintosh environment. The application is legacy software and may not run natively on a current Mac.
If MacWrite Pro is unavailable, a Macintosh emulator or an older compatible computer may be required. Make a copy of the original file before attempting to open or convert it.
If the file can be opened in MacWrite Pro, use that application to save or export the document to a format it supports, or copy the content into a current word processor.
Conversion may not preserve all formatting or embedded content, so check the resulting document carefully.
