The mxml file extension is related to MXML (Magic eXtensible Markup Language), an XML-based user interface markup language first introduced by Macromedia in March 2004.

NI Multisim, developed by National Instruments Corporation, uses MXML files to store electronic circuit designs. The file can contain the circuit's components, connections and associated design properties.
Multisim uses the design data to display, edit and simulate the circuit. The MXML format is intended for use with Multisim rather than as a general-purpose XML document.
Open the file with NI Multisim on Microsoft Windows. Use Multisim's Open command and select the MXML file.
If the file does not open, it may have been created by a Multisim version that is incompatible with the installed version.
There is no widely supported standalone converter for Multisim MXML files. Open the file in NI Multisim and use its available export or save options to create another representation of the circuit, such as a PDF, image or netlist, when supported by the installed version.
