The Insight II molecular modeling environment provides a graphical interface to algorithms for molecular dynamics, homology modeling, de novo design, and electrostatics. The software was developed for scientific computing environments and is associated with the Biosym and Accelrys product line.
An Insight II X-PLOR coordinate file contains the positional data needed to represent atoms in a molecular model. Insight II can use this coordinate information with other model and simulation data during structure preparation and analysis.
This is a legacy format associated with the Linux and Unix versions of Insight II.
Open the .pdbx file in Insight II on Linux or Unix. Use the program's structure or coordinate-file import commands to load the molecular coordinates.
The coordinate data may also be examined as text, but Insight II is the intended program for loading it as a molecular structure. If Insight II is unavailable, a compatible molecular modeling or coordinate-conversion program may be required, although support for this legacy format is limited.
Insight II can generally read the coordinate file and write the structure to another coordinate format supported by the installation, such as a PDB file. The exact export options depend on the Insight II modules and commands available.
After exporting, verify the atom names, residue information, and coordinates in the resulting file.
