The PER file extension is associated with Corel WordPerfect, a word-processing program developed by Corel Corporation.
PER files contain resident area data used by the WordPerfect Program Editor. The file belongs to the program's supporting files and is not a WordPerfect document intended for ordinary editing.
Corel WordPerfect is also distributed as part of the Corel WordPerfect Office suite for Microsoft Windows. PER is a program-specific format.
Open a PER file with Corel WordPerfect on Microsoft Windows. Because it contains Program Editor resident area data, WordPerfect normally uses it as a supporting file rather than opening it as a document.
If WordPerfect does not recognise the file, do not edit it with a text editor or another application, as that can damage the program data.
A PER file is an internal WordPerfect support file and does not have a useful document conversion path.
If the required content is a WordPerfect document, open the document in WordPerfect and use the program's Save As or export options instead; converting the PER file itself is not a substitute for document export.
