Norton FileSaver was a file-protection and recovery component of Norton Utilities. It monitored deleted files and retained data that could help restore them after deletion.
A PNFX file is an internal FileSaver file. It can contain preserved file data and information required by Norton Utilities to identify and recover the original file. It is not intended to be opened as a normal document.
Norton Utilities is a utility software suite designed to help analyze, configure, optimize and maintain a computer. PNFX is not a general-purpose exchange format.
Open a PNFX file with the Windows version of Norton Utilities that created it, using its FileSaver or file-recovery features. The file may need to remain in the location and storage managed by FileSaver for the software to recognize it.
Do not rename the file or edit it manually, because doing so may prevent Norton Utilities from recovering the associated file.
PNFX files are internal Norton FileSaver data and cannot usually be converted directly to another file format.
To obtain a usable file, use the compatible Norton Utilities FileSaver recovery function to restore the preserved file, then save or export the restored file from the application that normally opens it.
