PNL files are part of the CellWorX imaging workflow rather than general-purpose image files. They are intended to be interpreted by microscopy software that understands the format, including softWoRx Explorer and Bio-Formats-compatible applications.
Open the file with softWoRx Explorer. Alternatively, use microscopy software that includes the Bio-Formats reader for Applied Precision CellWorX files.
Open the PNL file with software that includes Bio-Formats and export it to a more widely supported image format such as TIFF, when the application provides that option.
Conversion may not preserve all CellWorX-specific metadata or acquisition information. Keep the original PNL file when that information is important.
