PCSX2 is an emulator for the Sony PlayStation 2 video game console. It is available for Microsoft Windows and Linux.
A ps2 file is a virtual memory card image. It can contain saved games and other data that a PlayStation 2 game would normally store on a physical memory card.
PCSX2 uses the file as part of its virtual memory card system.
Use PCSX2 to use a ps2 file. In the emulator's memory card settings, select or configure the file as a virtual memory card.
PCSX2 can use these files on Microsoft Windows and Linux. A ps2 file is not normally opened as a standalone document.
A ps2 file is a virtual memory card image, so it cannot usually be converted meaningfully to another document format. Keep it in its original form for use with PCSX2.
To back up or move the memory card, copy the file while PCSX2 is not running, then configure the copy as a memory card in PCSX2.
