Perfect ZX tape format
File type category:
Emulator file
Date updated: July 23, 2019
The pzx file extension is associated with the Perfect ZX tape format used by some ZX Spectrum emulators.
The pzx file format is a generic file format that can store either standard tape loading blocks as well as custom- and turbo loading blocks.
The format has been structured so that it would be easy to implement new block types as well as custom data. PZX files are supported by newer ZX-Spectrum emulators.
PZX files are simply concatenated blocks that are indicated and introduced by a 4-byte string. They always must begin with a PZXT block, but this block also may appear several times within the file.
