Ren'Py is an open-source visual novel engine available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, and other platforms. The rpymc file extension identifies the compiled form of a Ren'Py module.
A module extends Ren'Py by adding functionality to a project. An rpymc file is generated from the module's source and contains code that Ren'Py can load when the project starts.
The file is generally distributed as part of a Ren'Py project or module package rather than edited directly.
An rpymc file is not normally opened as a standalone document. Place it in the appropriate Ren'Py project directory, usually the project's game directory, and open or run the project with Ren'Py.
Ren'Py handles the compiled module automatically on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, and other supported platforms. A text editor cannot meaningfully edit the compiled file.
There is no useful general-purpose conversion for an rpymc file. It is a compiled Ren'Py module, not an interchange document.
If the corresponding module source file is available, edit that source and let Ren'Py compile it again. Without the source, the rpymc file cannot normally be converted back into an editable module.
