Borland used the SDI file format for settings related to the single document interface in some of its older programs. The file belongs to the Borland application that created it rather than representing a document edited in that application.
Single document interface, or SDI, is a graphical user interface design in which each document appears in its own window. The operating system's window manager handles these windows separately, and each window normally has its own menu and toolbar instead of being contained in a parent application window.
When an SDI application has several documents open, the separate windows can make it appear that multiple instances of the application are running.
Open the file with the older Borland program that created it. SDI files are application settings, so they normally do not have a separate viewer or editor.
If the original Borland software is unavailable, a text editor may reveal readable portions, but it should not be used to change the file unless the file's structure is known.
There is no standard conversion for a Borland SDI settings file. Its contents apply to the Borland program's interface rather than to a document that can be exported to another format.
To reproduce the settings in another installation, open the corresponding Borland program and configure its interface manually.
