File extension selex is used for a unique type of multiple sequence alignment format used as part HMMER package.
As part of the sequence annotation, it has the ability to store RNA secondary structure. Similar to text/plain format, but it excludes all numeric characters and whitespace, accepting only alphabetic characters.
Sometimes may use .slx extension as well.
