Microsoft App-V is Microsoft's Windows application-virtualization technology. It delivers applications in an isolated virtual environment instead of installing them in the usual way.
A .sftdde file stores supporting data used by the App-V client. It belongs to the App-V environment and may be created and managed automatically. A typical name is softgrid.sftdde.
The file is intended for use by Microsoft App-V on Windows and is not a general-purpose document.
There is normally no reason to open a .sftdde file manually. The Microsoft App-V client on Windows uses this file as part of its internal data, so it should be left in the location where App-V created it.
It is not normally readable with a text editor or a general file viewer.
A .sftdde file is not a standalone application package or document, so it cannot normally be converted to a useful format. Microsoft App-V manages this internal data itself.
