The SLS5 file extension is associated with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft's spreadsheet application for creating and editing spreadsheets, graphs and other workbook content.
An SLS5 file is a template for Microsoft Excel 5 for Mac. It can preserve a prepared spreadsheet layout and formatting so that new spreadsheets can be created from the same design.
This is a legacy format from the Mac version of Excel and is no longer commonly used. Microsoft Excel for Windows and Microsoft Office for Mac use newer formats; template files commonly use the xlt extension or, since Microsoft Office 2007, the xltx format.
Open an SLS5 file with a version of Microsoft Excel that supports Excel 5 for Mac files. Older Mac versions of Excel are the most likely to open it directly.
Current versions of Microsoft Excel for Windows or Microsoft Office for Mac may not support this legacy format. If the file does not open, use an older compatible version of Excel to open it and save it in a newer workbook or template format.
To convert an SLS5 file, open it in a compatible version of Microsoft Excel and use the Save As or export command. Save the result as a newer Excel template, such as an XLT or XLTX file, or as a workbook if a template is not required.
Because SLS5 is a legacy format, conversion may require an older version of Excel if current versions cannot read the file.
