The Tiled JPEG format was developed by the Berkeley Digital Library Project. It is influenced by the Kodak FlashPix format and is partially based on the GridPix format, which was also developed at the University of California, Berkeley.
A TJP file combines multiple images in a single file rather than storing each image separately. It is a specialized legacy format and is most likely no longer actively used.
TJP files are not generally supported by standard image viewers. Open the file with the legacy digital-library software or collection system that created it, if that software is available.
If the file came from an older digital-library collection, the collection administrator may be able to provide the associated viewer or an image export.
Conversion generally requires software that can read the format and export the images it contains to a more widely supported image format.
