Apache Lucene is a full-featured Java text-search library from the Apache Lucene project, written entirely in Java. In older Lucene index formats, a tvd file stores term-vector data for the documents in an index segment.
Term vectors contain information about the terms occurring in an indexed document. The data can be used by Lucene-based applications for operations such as examining document terms and their positions or offsets, when those details were stored during indexing.
A tvd file is an internal binary part of a Lucene index and normally appears with other files belonging to the same index segment. Newer Lucene index formats may use different storage formats and may not create tvd files.
A tvd file is not intended to be opened as a standalone document or edited with a text editor. Use the Lucene version or Lucene-based application that created the index, typically through its index-reading APIs.
Apache Lucene runs on Microsoft Windows and other platforms that support Java, but it does not provide a general-purpose viewer for individual tvd files.
A tvd file cannot be meaningfully converted on its own because it is an internal component of a Lucene index. To move the searchable content to another format or Lucene index, read the complete index with compatible Lucene software and export available data or reindex the original documents.

The Yamaha custom drum voice format is associated with Yamaha electronic keyboard series and their companion software. A TVD file contains a custom drum voice used by a compatible instrument or program.
TVD appears to be a legacy format, and it is not intended for use as a general-purpose audio file. Its practical use depends on the Yamaha keyboard or software that supports the particular file.
Open a TVD file by importing or loading it in the compatible Yamaha keyboard or Yamaha software for which it was created. Transfer it to the instrument according to that model's file-management procedure.
Audio players and general-purpose music software normally cannot open a TVD file as a recording.
There is no general-purpose conversion from TVD to an audio format because the file contains a custom drum voice, not rendered sound.
If supported by the relevant Yamaha instrument or software, load the voice there and save or export it in another Yamaha voice format. Otherwise, the voice must be recreated manually in a compatible instrument or editor.
