A .umlx file is an XML-based UML model file created by Visual UML.
Visual Paradigm can import UMLX files, allowing models created in Visual UML to be opened and worked with in that software.

The UMLX format is associated with Visual UML, a UML modeling application for Microsoft Windows. A UMLX file stores a UML model in XML form, including the model information needed by the application.
Visual UML has been discontinued. Visual Paradigm can import UMLX files. Visual Paradigm is available for Microsoft Windows, and Visual Paradigm Online provides related UML modeling services.
On Microsoft Windows, open the file by importing it into Visual Paradigm. Use the application's import command and select the UMLX file.
Visual UML was discontinued, so it may not be available for installing or opening the file directly. Visual Paradigm Online is an associated on-line service, but support for importing a UMLX file should be checked in the service before uploading it.
There is no need for a separate converter when the goal is to use the model in Visual Paradigm. Import the UMLX file into Visual Paradigm, then save or export the imported model using the formats and output options provided by that version.
Conversion to another UML tool's format is therefore best performed through Visual Paradigm, provided that the destination tool supports one of its export formats.
