UT4MOD

The ut4mod file extension is related to Unreal Tournament 2004 first-person shooter computer game and used for installation purposes (UMOD installer).

UMOD installers (Unreal Modules) are the native format for Unreal engine's content distribution and automated installation. An UMOD installer is an uncompressed archive of files stored along with information about where those files are to be installed to and about necessary Unreal Engine INI file changes.

While in Unreal Tournament UMOD file extension is used for Unreal Modules, in Unreal Tournament 2003 the extension is changed to UT2MOD Unreal Tournament 2004 to ut4mod file extension. It is the same file format, just the suffix is changed.

Unreal Module file extensions are automatically associated with Unreal Tournament, UT2003, UT2004 after installation process is finished. However, each version of Unreal associates only file extensions, that are used by it.

Installation of the MOD is very simple only double click by mouse on the Unreal Module file. If there is a problem with MOD files association and system doesn't recognize the MOD file, you can use manual install the the MOD file in few steps:

• Copy the MOD file (for example BallisticV21.ut4mod) to an Unreal Tournament 2004/System folder
• Run command line and go to the Unreal Tournament 2004/System folder
• Type: setup.exe install BallisticV21.ut4mod and the Unreal installator will install your MOD file to the game.

An UMOD archive contains Unreal Tournament animations (UKX format), Unreal audio files (UAX format), Unreal Tournament static meshes (USX format), Unreal Tournament cache files (UCL format, Unreal application packs (U format), Unreal texture files (UTX format).

Unreal Module archives can be opened and extracted with simple utility called UMOD Extractor.
