The ut4mod file extension is related to Unreal Tournament 2004 first-person shooter computer game and used for installation purposes (UMOD installer).
UMOD installers (Unreal Modules) are the native format for Unreal engine's content distribution and automated installation. An UMOD installer is an uncompressed archive of files stored along with information about where those files are to be installed to and about necessary Unreal Engine INI file changes.
While in Unreal Tournament UMOD file extension is used for Unreal Modules, in Unreal Tournament 2003 the extension is changed to UT2MOD Unreal Tournament 2004 to ut4mod file extension. It is the same file format, just the suffix is changed.
Unreal Module file extensions are automatically associated with Unreal Tournament, UT2003, UT2004 after installation process is finished. However, each version of Unreal associates only file extensions, that are used by it.
Installation of the MOD is very simple only double click by mouse on the Unreal Module file. If there is a problem with MOD files association and system doesn't recognize the MOD file, you can use manual install the the MOD file in few steps:
An UMOD archive contains Unreal Tournament animations (UKX format), Unreal audio files (UAX format), Unreal Tournament static meshes (USX format), Unreal Tournament cache files (UCL format, Unreal application packs (U format), Unreal texture files (UTX format).
Unreal Module archives can be opened and extracted with simple utility called UMOD Extractor.
You can use UMOD Extractor to open and extract data from *.ut4mod files.
UMOD Extractor supports only Unreal Modules with file extension UMOD, however you can manually open abut in file select window you can change object type UMOD files to All files and choose UMOD file with ut2mod file extension or ut4mod file extension.
There is no way how to convert *.ut4mod files to another format.
