AOL update data
File type: Various data file
The utf file extension identifies update data used by software developed by AOL, also known as America Online. A utf file is a supporting data file, not a document intended for direct editing.
File type category:
Various data file
Date updated: October 12, 2026
Record marked as obsolete and not updated for a long time.
Some software developed by AOL, also known as America Online, used utf files to store update information. These files could be found in the Tools on Demand folder associated with the AOL software.
The format was intended for internal use by the original AOL software. It is obsolete and is no longer generally used by current AOL applications.
A utf file is not intended to be opened as a standalone document. Keep it in the Tools on Demand folder and allow the associated AOL software to use it.
Because the format is obsolete, no current general-purpose program may open it. Do not edit the file manually.
There is no established conversion method for AOL utf files. They contain internal update data rather than user-created content, so conversion to another format is generally not applicable.
