The WTBN file extension is associated with Microsoft Word for Mac versions 4 and 5. WTBN files contain document templates, much like the DOT templates used by Word on PCs.
A WTBN template can provide reusable text, page layout, styles, and other document settings for new Word documents. It is a legacy format from the classic Mac version of Word and is not normally used by current versions of Microsoft Word for Mac on macOS.
Open a .wtbn file with Microsoft Word for Mac version 4 or 5 in a compatible classic Mac environment. Current versions of Word for Mac may not support this legacy template format.
If the file does not open in a modern version of Word, it may need to be opened first with the original or a compatible older version of the software.
If an older version of Microsoft Word for Mac can open the file, use Word's save or export commands to create a newer template or document.
When legacy Word is unavailable or cannot read the file, direct conversion may not be practical.
