The z6 file extension is associated with ZoneAlarm, a personal firewall software, originally created by Zone Labs and currently developed by CheckPoint Software Technologies LTD.
One of ZoneAlarm features is MailSafe, which detects e-mail attachments and warns the user about their presence. When a potentially dangerous attachment is detected, the program quarantines the file with simple renaming of its original file extension, so it breaks the common program association function in Windows and prevents such files from being executed (or launched via associated program).
A file with Z6 file extension had its original file extension renamed for security reasons.
You can rename the z6 file extension back to VB and work with the file normally. This can however be potentially dangerous, because the file was quarantined for a reason. So always re-check it with your anti-virus or anti-spyware programs before you rename the files.
It is not convertable file format.

Infocom used Z-code story files to distribute interactive fiction games. The filename extension commonly indicates the Z-machine version: .z1, .z2, .z3, .z4, .z5, .z6, .z7 or .z8; some files use .dat instead. A Z6 file is intended for version 6 of the Z-machine.
Version 6 provides some support for graphics. Z-machine versions 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 are extremely uncommon; most Z-machine story files use versions 3, 5 or 8.
Z-code interpreters are available for many platforms, including older systems such as the Apple II, TRS-80 and Sinclair computers, portable systems such as Palm OS devices and the Nintendo Game Boy, and modern platforms. Frotz for Microsoft Windows can interpret compatible Z-code game files.
Open the file with a Z-machine interpreter. On Microsoft Windows, Frotz can load and run a compatible .z6 story file.
Other Z-code interpreters are available for many older, portable and modern platforms. If the file does not load, it may require an interpreter with support for version 6 and its graphics features.
A Z6 story file is intended to be run by a Z-machine interpreter, not converted to a general-purpose document format. There is no generally useful conversion that preserves the complete game and its interactive behavior.
The file can be copied between systems and opened in a compatible interpreter. Exporting text or other material, where supported by a particular interpreter, does not create an equivalent playable game file.
