The zm6 file extension is associated with ZoneAlarm, a personal firewall software, originally created by Zone Labs and currently developed by CheckPoint Software Technologies LTD.
One of ZoneAlarm features is MailSafe, which detects e-mail attachments and warns the user about their presence. When a potentially dangerous attachment is detected, the program quarantines the file with simple renaming of its original file extension, so it breaks the common program association function in Windows and prevents such files from being executed (or launched via associated program).
A file with zm6 file extension originally had shb (Windows shortcut to document file). Simple renaming will restore the Windows associations with such file, however it is not advised, unless you are absolutely sure it safe to do.
You can rename the ZM6 file extension back to SHB and work with the file normally. This can however be potentially dangerous, because the file was quarantined for a reason. So always re-check it with your anti-virus or anti-spyware programs before you rename the files.

ZSNES is an emulator for Super Nintendo games on Microsoft Windows. Its movie feature records gameplay input and related replay data rather than storing a conventional video.
The .zm6 file extension identifies the movie saved in ZSNES movie slot 6. To replay it, ZSNES generally also needs the compatible game ROM and the conditions required by the recording.
This is a ZSNES-specific replay format associated with the older ZSNES software. It is not intended for use as a standalone video file or in a general media player.
Open the .zm6 file with ZSNES on Microsoft Windows. Load it through ZSNES's movie playback function rather than opening it in a media player.
For the replay to work correctly, the compatible Super Nintendo ROM may also be required.
There is no standard conversion from a ZSNES movie file to a video format, because the file contains replay data rather than rendered video.
To make a video, play the movie in ZSNES and record the emulator window with screen-recording software. This creates a new video file without converting the original .zm6 file.
