What is fol file? How to open fol files?
File extension fol is associated with the Microsoft Windows Mail client and with the Windows Live Mail client.
Fol file contains saved user settings of the folders in plain text format, that the user has created in the Windows Mail. FOL files don't contain saved e-mail messages. E-mail messages are saved in files with file extension eml.
fol files are created only, that user exported e-mail messages and e-mail folders from Windows Mail. Exported messages are stored in the same directories as in Windows Mail and in every directory is created file winmail.fol (Windows Mail) or wlmail.fol (Windows Live Mail).
If the messages are imported back to the Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail, they are sorted to directories, in that they stored before export.If fol files don't exist, the Windows Mail will import e-mail messages too, but it will not sort them to directories.
This fol file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.
This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
