File extension jxr is generally used for images stored in the JPEG XR file format (also known as JPEG eXtended Range). It was developed by Microsoft for its media software. The format supports deep color images with 48-bit RGB. Its used for a high-resolution professional image editing.
The JXR file format was designed to offer better compression rate and better color accuracy than standard jpg files. Both lossless and lossy compressions are supported.
Several graphics editors support JPEG XR format and can work it.
It should be possible to export or convert .jxr images to other image formats, but this might compromise the quality of the original tool.
