The log file extension is associated with applications, that are used Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) technology. Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) was developed by Microsoft and introduced in Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system.

The Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) transaction log records all changes to the queue database. Changes to the EDB database are first written to the transaction log and then committed to the database.
