The nrg file extension is used for the default CD/DVD image file format of a very popular burning software called Nero Burning ROM that is distributed as a part of Nero Multimedia Suite.

The nrg files are different than ISO images. NERO nrg file format uses a variation of the Interchange File Format (IFF) and stores data in a chain of "chunks".
