What is partial file? How to open partial files?

The partial file extension is associated with the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser.

The *.partial files are temporary files used for incomplete downloads initiated with Microsoft Internet Explorer from version 9. Version 10 and 11 creates partial files when downloading data too.

After the download is complete, the .partial file extension is removed from the file and file is able to be opened in associated application.

The partial file is also used by new browser from Microsoft called Edge.

Similar way of downloading data use Firefox (.part file extension) or Chrome (.crdownload file extension).
