An .rx2 file is a ReCycle audio loop file. It contains an audio loop divided into slices, together with timing information for those slices.
The format belongs to ReCycle, music-production software for editing loops and samples. Compatible audio applications can use the slice information to adjust a loop's tempo or edit its individual sounds.

ReCycle was developed by Propellerhead Software, now known as Reason Studios. The software is designed for working with sampled loops, especially drum and rhythm loops, by detecting their transients and dividing them into separate slices.
An RX2 file stores the loop's audio together with the slice and timing data created in ReCycle. This allows supported music-production software to trigger, rearrange and time-stretch the slices instead of treating the loop only as a single continuous recording.
RX2 files are supported by ReCycle on Microsoft Windows and can also be used in Ableton Live, Cubase and WAVE Xtractor on Windows, Apple Logic Pro on macOS, and Translator Professional on multiple platforms.
On Microsoft Windows, open the file with ReCycle, Ableton Live, Cubase or WAVE Xtractor. On macOS, use Apple Logic Pro. Translator Professional can open RX2 files on supported platforms.
In a digital audio workstation, import the file into an audio or sampler track that supports ReCycle loops. The application may expose the loop's individual slices and timing data for further editing.
To create a standard audio file, import the RX2 file into a compatible application and export or render it as WAV, AIFF, MP3 or another audio format supported by that application. This produces a continuous recording and may not preserve the editable slice structure.
Translator Professional and WAVE Xtractor can also be used for format conversion where their supported export options are suitable. Exporting the loop from ReCycle or a compatible digital audio workstation is generally the most practical approach.
