The sr file extension is associated with the Sun raster bitmap graphics file format.
Sun Rasterfiles are a bitmap storage format developed by Sun Microsystems. The format is well supported on Sun workstations, but is less widely supported elsewhere.
The files can store bitmaps at a variety of color depths: monochrome, 8-bit gray scale, 256 color with a palette, 24-bit TrueColor or 32-bit TrueColor.
Additionally the data in the file can be stored in either of two bytes orders, and the bitmap may either by not compressed or compressed using a Run-length Compression scheme.
Please Note: As there is a wide variety of possible options in this format, some applications may not support (or read) all possible variations of this format.
Use XnView to view *.sr bitmap graphics files.
Raster graphics can be usually converted between various formats.

Netscape Navigator was a web browser developed by Netscape Communications for Microsoft Windows and other platforms, including Mac OS and Unix-based systems. The SR file extension identifies data used internally by Navigator.
The contents depend on the part of Navigator that created the file. An SR file belongs to the browser's internal data rather than to a standard, portable document format, so its contents are generally meaningful only to compatible Navigator software.
Netscape Navigator is obsolete and is no longer supported on current operating systems.
Use the compatible Windows version of Netscape Navigator to handle an SR file. Such a file may need to be in the location and installation context expected by Navigator; it is not normally opened as a standalone document.
Modern web browsers and current versions of Windows do not generally support this file. Avoid editing the file directly, as this can prevent the old Navigator installation from using it.
SR files are internal Netscape Navigator data files rather than standard documents, so they cannot usually be converted meaningfully as standalone files.
If the file is part of an old Navigator installation, use that installation's own data-export features, when available, to recover information in a more portable form.
