SSLeay data
File type: Various data file
A file with the ssleay file extension contains data associated with SSLeay, the predecessor of OpenSSL.
It is a legacy data file used by SSLeay-related software rather than a general-purpose document format.

SSLeay was an open-source SSL implementation developed by Eric Andrew Young and Tim J. Hudson in 1995. It included support for encryption algorithms such as RC2 and RC4.
The ssleay file stores data used by SSLeay. The extension does not by itself identify a particular document type, and the contents may require the original application or the operation that created the file.
SSLeay was superseded by OpenSSL, which is available on multiple platforms.
There is no general-purpose viewer for an ssleay file. Open it with the SSLeay-based application that created it, or try the corresponding operation in OpenSSL if the file is known to contain data that OpenSSL supports.
Do not edit the file in a text editor unless its contents are known to be plain text. If the creating application is unavailable, identify the file's purpose before attempting to open it.
There is no general converter for the ssleay file format. Conversion depends on the type of data stored in the file and the application that created it.
If the data is supported by OpenSSL, it may be possible to export it to another supported format using the appropriate OpenSSL operation. Otherwise, the original SSLeay-based software is required.
