W32 file extension - Compiler makefile

What is w32 file? How to open w32 files?

File type specification:

Source code and script file type icon Source code and script file type

The w32 extension is used when interacting with various Windows compilers and build systems. It is ofter seen as Makefile.w32 which is usually a makefile for building C# programs with Microsoft's .NET tools.

Similarly when talking to the Windows build system you see config.w32 which is written in Javascript and used on Windows servers.

This w32 file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
