File extension wer is used for temporary report files generated in Microsoft Windows and Windows Mobile operating system, created with Microsoft Winqual service.
A .wer file contains crash report data in text form, stores list of errors, information about crashes for applications and operating system.
These files can be removed with the Disk Cleanup function (right-click the drive icon in Windows Explorer and select Properties → Tools tab.
