File extension pxz is nowadays best known for the default format of Pixlr, a cloud-based set of image editing tools and utilities that offer you graphic editor functions through your web browser.
A .pxz file replaced the previously used .pxd files in 2021. It's a ZIP archive that contains the original picture saved in .webp format, together with thumbnail in the same format and any manifest.json file with changes made to the original file.
It works same as Photoshop's PSD file and allows users to reverse previous changes to the original.
These files can only be opened in Pixlr, but you can recover .webp file from within the .pxz file and open that with any graphics editor that supports this format.
Pixlr allows export to several formats, but the .webp file inside of the .pxz file can be converterted as usual.
