Files with rem extension were traditionally used encrypted files on Blackberry devices. You can encrypt them in your device or with use of Blackberry Desktop Software if you known encryption password.

File extension rem is most likely best known for its use in BlackBerry smartphones.
A .rem file can actually be any file format, but the rem file suffix signalizes, that the file is encrypted using the BlackBerry smart phone.
The files can be decrypted only with password used in the BB smart phone, or by the same password in the BlackBarry Desktop Software.
Example. "picture_name".jpg.rem
These *.rem files can be opened only in BlackBerry smart phones or with the use of BlackBerry Desktop Software and its part Media Manager, if the user provides his encryption password.
There is no way how to convert the encrypted *.rem files on BlackBerry. However, after decoding the *.rem files, original files can be converted, if their format allows it.

The rem file extension is associated by ACT! data management system, now marketed as Sage ACT!
The .rem file used in ACT contains database maintenance data. It is not clear if this format is still used by the latest version of Sage ACT!
