ALZip, developed by ESTsoft, uses EGG as its native compressed archive format. An EGG archive can contain multiple files and folders, and ALZip can split a large archive into multiple volumes.
The .vol1.egg file is the first volume in one of these split archives. It is not a complete, independent archive; the remaining volume files are required when extracting its contents.
The EGG format is designed to select suitable compression settings. ALZip's Optimized Compression option analyzes the files and selects settings that balance compression ratio and processing speed. The .vol1.egg file is one part of a multi-volume compressed egg archive.
ALZip is available for Microsoft Windows, and ALZip for Mac is available for Apple macOS and Mac OS X.
Install ALZip on Microsoft Windows, or ALZip for Mac on Apple macOS or Mac OS X, and open the .vol1.egg file in the program.
Place all volumes of the archive in the same folder before opening or extracting the first volume. ALZip may not be able to extract the archive if any volume is missing or has been renamed.
A single .vol1.egg file cannot be meaningfully converted on its own because it is only one volume of a multi-volume archive.
After all volumes are available, use ALZip to extract the complete archive and create a new archive in a format such as ZIP or RAR.
