The a02 file extension is associated with ARJ archiver. A *.a02 is one part of a multi-volume compressed ARJ archive.
Some arj files can be parts of a multi-volume sequences. In ARJ you can split a huge archive to a few smaller files, which are called volumes.
ARJ archiver does use the following sequence:
In order to unpack the multi-volume ARJ archive, you need to place ALL of the split parts in the same directory and start extraction of the first volume (.arj). The program will automatically use all of the parts to extract the content of the archive.
The *.a02 file is only one part of ARJ multi-volume archive. If you want to extract this file, you must have all parts of the ARJ multi-volume archive. Open the first part of ARJ (e.g *.arj file) multi-volume archive in ARJ application and extract files from ARJ multi-volume archive.
It is not possible to convert only one part of ARJ multi-volume archive. Only complete ARJ archive can be converted in to another archive or compression format. The easiest way how to convert complete ARJ multi-volume archive is to decompress the ARJ archive with the use of ARJ or any other supported archiver and repack the content with another compression or archive application of your choice.

The .a02 file extension belongs to the split-archive format used by ALZip, the archive utility from ESTsoft. When an ALZ archive is divided into volumes, the main archive uses the .alz extension and subsequent volumes use sequential extensions such as .a00, .a01 and .a02.
This file contains the fourth segment of the compressed archive. It works together with the other volumes as a single archive, so deleting, renaming or separating any volume can prevent extraction. The format is intended for ALZip on Microsoft Windows.
The file is an archive volume rather than a standalone document. It is therefore mainly encountered as part of an ALZip multi-volume archive and is not normally opened or processed independently.
Place the .a02 file in the same folder as the main .alz file and all preceding volumes. Open the main .alz file with ALZip on Microsoft Windows, then extract the archive. ALZip reads the volume sequence automatically when all parts are present and correctly named.
Opening the .a02 file by itself will generally not provide access to the archived contents because it is only one volume of the complete archive.
A single .a02 volume cannot be meaningfully converted on its own. With all volumes available, open the corresponding .alz archive in ALZip and extract its contents.
The extracted files can then be placed in a new archive format supported by an archive utility. This creates a new archive; it does not convert the individual .a02 volume directly.
