Split multi-volume ALZip EGG compressed file archive (part 9)
File type: Archive and compressed file
File type category:
Archive and compressed file
Date updated: September 27, 2026
The format is associated with ALZip, an archive utility developed by ESTsoft. When a large EGG archive is split into volumes, each volume receives a numbered filename such as .vol9.egg.
This file contains one segment of the compressed archive rather than a separate collection of files. ALZip uses it together with the other volumes to reconstruct the archive and extract its contents. The format is supported by ALZip on Microsoft Windows and by ALZip for Apple macOS and Mac OS X.
Place the .vol9.egg file and all other volumes of the archive in the same folder. Open the first volume, usually the file with the lowest volume number, in ALZip. ALZip can then use the complete set of volumes to browse or extract the archive.
ALZip for Microsoft Windows and ALZip for Apple macOS or Mac OS X can open this type of split EGG archive. Opening the part 9 file alone will normally fail because it is only one segment of the archive.
A single .vol9.egg file cannot be meaningfully converted because it is only one volume of a split archive. Assemble the complete set of volumes and extract the archived files with ALZip.
To obtain another archive format, create a new archive from the extracted files using ALZip or another archiving program that supports the required output format.
